What is PBIS?

Otis Elementary PBIS

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is an approach to supporting students to be successful in schools. PBIS supports all students through interventions ranging from a school-wide system to a system developing individualized plans for specific students. School-wide PBIS focuses on the development and implementation of pro-active procedures and practices to prevent problem behavior for all students and improve school climate.

PBIS Progress Report at Otis

We’ve established strong Tier 1 systems and we’re refining and sustaining development.

WHAT IS TIER 1?

It's a positive school-wide culture. Every student and school community member knows the 3 B’s (Be safe, Be kind, Be your best), is clear on expectations in all areas of school, and knows how to seek support to resolve conflict.

We as parents can refresh school expectations by reviewing the 3 B’s (Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Your Best) at home, reminding your child of Soul Shoppe tools, and practicing these tools and behaviors at home.

Stay tuned for the expanding role of Student Council to have more of a voice in school-wide culture!
