2026-2028 Temporary Campus

We developed these routes in partnership with the District, City of Alameda’s Transportation Department, and Alameda County’s Safe Routes to School program. As a team, our joint goals are to:

• Help every student arrive at school safely
• Encourage sustainable, low-emission travel options
• Minimize traffic impacts on our surrounding neighborhood

Please also note that these are our initial transportation plans for the opening weeks of school. We will monitor traffic patterns closely and make adjustments as needed to improve safety and efficiency. 

We encourage you and/or your student to ride bikes if possible to get exercise and fresh air as well as reduce traffic congestion in the area. The recommended bike routes are:

West on San Jose

1. Bike west on San Jose Avenue
2. Turn left (south) on Grand Street
3. Turn left (east) on Otis Avenue
4. Dismount and get up on the sidewalk before the access road to reach the campus
5. Park bike in bike racks

East on San Jose

1. Bike east on San Jose
2. Turn right (south) on Fernside Avenue bike path
3. Follow bike path under the Bay Farm bridge and east to Bayview Avenue (this entails riding across an empty lot to a cement walkway along the water)
4. Follow Bayview east to Broadway
5. Turn left (south) into the Shoreline Avenue bike lane
6. Continue east along Shoreline
7. Turn right (north) at Grand Street
8. Follow Grand Street bike path to Otis Avenue
9. Turn right (east) onto Otis Avenue and follow to the access road

South on Versailles

1. Ride south on Versailles
2. Turn left on Calhoun Street
3. Turn right on Mound Street
4. Cross Otis Avenue and turn right on Court Street
5. Follow Bayview east to Broadway
6. Turn left (south) into the Shoreline Avenue bike lane
7. Continue east along Shoreline
8. Turn right (north)at Grand Street
9. Follow Grand Street bike path to Otis Avenue
10. Turn right (east) on to Otis Avenue and follow to the access road

Please review these routes in advance and practice safe biking habits with your children this summer!

Families may also choose to park nearby and walk or bike to campus with their children. This option gives families a chance to walk to campus together, as well as see other Otis students and families. It also will help to reduce traffic in and around campus.

Street parking may be available along:

• Otis Drive
• Grand Street
• Sandcreek Way
• Yorkshire Street (use Ivy Walk to get to Sandcreek, turn left and walk to campus)
• Willow Street (approximately one-quarter mile from campus)

If you choose this option, please be considerate of residents in the surrounding neighborhood:

• Do not block driveways
• Do not block ADA curb ramps
• Do not park in red or white curb zones

Families who use public transportation may also find AC Transit to be a convenient option for traveling to and from school. The transportation guide highlights AC Transit Lines 631 and 663, both of which serve areas near the temporary campus. If public transit is part of your family's transportation plan, we encourage you to review these routes and schedules in advance to determine whether they meet your needs.

If you plan to drive your child to school, please help us keep traffic moving safely by following the designated traffic flow.
 

• Drivers should enter the campus access road from Otis Drive and exit onto Grand Street.
• To help reduce congestion around the campus entrance, we have designated different drop-off locations by grade level:
• Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th Grade: Students should be dropped off along the campus access road. Volunteers will be available each morning to help guide students safely from the drop-off area to campus.
• 2nd and 3rd Grade: Students should be dropped off along Sandcreek Way, where they can safely access campus.

If you have children who need to be dropped off at two different places on campus (e.g., a kindergartener and a third grader), please use the drop off area for the younger sibling. You do not need to drive to two separate areas.
